SASMIRA, in its continuous endeavor to promote design literate human resource pool for today’s competitive market; organizes Enchanté annually with a central theme every year; this year ‘Odisha’ was a unique central theme set for the show. ‘Enchanté 2017’ gave the students an opportunity and a challenge to think out of the box and come up with an idea which can express the ethnic beauty, uniqueness within the culture and showcase works by using a wide variety of colors, fabrics, textures, and surface ornamentation techniques, etc. This was an actual representation of things which students have learned during their years of education at SASMIRA. Collections shown at the event were of the Final year Fashion Degree & Diploma students.          SHRI. PARAG K. SHAH, Managing Director, Man Infraconstruction was the Chief Guest for the event. SRI MAGANLAL H. DOSHI President of SASMIRA, SHRI MIHIR MEHTA, Vice President of SASMIRA, SRI HARESH M. MEHTA, Director of D&J and Trustee of D&J Foundation, very prominent personality having spent his entire career in Textile Industry were present at the event. Dr. U. K. Gangopadhyay, Executive Director, Sasmira had also graced this occasion to encourage the students and management. Aman Verma was the Celebrity Anchor for the show. The Indian playback singer Krishna Beuraa, sung some of his commercial Hindi cinema songs such as “Maula Mere” his hit song from the film Chak De India. Rituraj Mohanty, Bollywood playback singer & The Winner of First India’s Raw Star 2014 also marked his presence by singing some of his hits which included “Rangabati”. India’s Got Talent fame ‘Prince Dance Group’ were also invited for a special dance Performance at the event. The show was judged by eminent personalities from the Fashion industry & Bollywood such as James Ferreira, Lina Tipnis, Salim Asgarally, Krishna Beuraa, Manali Jagtap, Farhad Shahnawaz, Mallika Chaturvedi. Aesha Parmar, Shahana Shaikh & Kinjal Rahate was awarded with THE WHEELS OF KONARK for Best Surface Ornamentation. Gauri Yadav, Namrata Bhatia & Sneha Chedudoop was awarded with THE KALAYATRA for the Best Ramp Appeal. Also, Disha Chetwani was awarded with PARASHAKTI for Most Commercially Viable Collection and Ankita Ambekar awarded with SHAKTI for Best Collection. SASMIRA has established itself as a renowned institute in the area of Textiles including Fashion Designing and Apparel Merchandising. Sasmira’s Education & Training Program (SETP) Department under the guidance of Shri Krishnendu Datta, Head – SETP, has strived very hard for making Enchanté 2017 a grand success. Students have been trained and guided by Mrs. Mousumi Golui & Mrs. Karishma NK course coordinators of Fashion and Textile & Merchandising respectively.
