Vriddha Mitra, a pioneering initiative dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older people, is launching an awareness campaign through a special musical event on 28th September 2024 in Mumbai. We are delighted to announce that Padma Shri Anup Jalota will be leading the entire concert in support of Vriddha Mitra’s mission. The event will be held at the prestigious Rang Sharda Auditorium, Bandra West, Mumbai.

Vriddha Mitra, which translates to ‘Friends of Older People,’ is the flagship program of SCHOOL (Society of Community Health Oriented Operational Links), a not-for-profit organization. The program is committed to the concept of “ageing in place,” delivering essential services and supplies to 47,300 elderly individuals in their own homes across six major locations in India: Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Gwalior, Bhopal, and Varanasi. With the support of philanthropic foundations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, and individual donors, Vriddha Mitra focuses on improving the well-being, independence, and overall happiness of elderly people, especially those most vulnerable and in need.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of creating a supportive environment for senior citizens. Vriddha Mitra’s dedicated team provides companionship, assistance with daily activities, and emotional support, addressing various challenges related to physical and mental health. The program also ensures that older adults receive the social security entitlements and benefits they deserve, helping them lead dignified lives in their own homes.

In addition to the musical event, this awareness campaign will continue on 1st October 2024, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons. The campaign will reach audiences across India through social media, print media, and a series of events. Vriddha Mitra’s goal is to encourage people, particularly the younger generation, to view ageing as a positive and enriching experience for senior citizens.

Our message to the world is simple: it’s time to provide love, care, and support to our elderly population within the comfort of their homes, rather than displacing them to old age homes. We also emphasize the need to sensitize communities and youths to the challenges faced by older adults and to create a network of compassionate caregivers through professional training. Let us work together to ensure that our elders feel happy, content, and valued in their later years.
