Dancing is considered to be an excellent balance of physical strength and expressing creativity through music and rhythm. Be it in any languages, everyone in the audience loves a super-dancer. Take a look at the recently released glorious southern films which is steamrolling the Hindi film industry, with not only their content but also their songs and the variety in dances. It’s noted that sometimes the popularity has been overwhelmingly favoured the exponents of the arts.

Talking about this art brings to the fore a budding dancing talent. The best thing about Yugal Trivedi is that he’s not derivative. He’s his own person who gradually unravels layers of nuance. Despite his pedigree, he’s as humble as it comes and yearning to claim a piece of sky. 

There was a time when many trained dancers considered doing reality shows with professionals and amateurs showcasing their talents. This season too, many celebrity dance reality shows are gearing up to telecast on various channels. It may also be recalled that Yugal Trivedi too featured as a dancer with Hrithik Roshan in finale of “Just Dance” and with judges of “India’s Got Talent” in 2011.

When it comes to dancing, Yugal Trivedi has proved his mettle by adapting and devising certain versions. He has the ability of exploring innovative styles in Bollywood, freestyle, hip-hop, popping-locking, folk, contemporary, afro-jazz, etc. His performance mostly as the lead dancer is with aplomb; be it films, ads for multiple brands, celebrity world tours; he holds on his own in the shows rubbing shoulders at par with various phenomenal personalities. Yugal had also been a part of various celebrity world tours which has garnered some international recognition.

The Marwari Brahmin lad who was brought up in a joint family of around 15-16 people living under one roof in a chawl situated in Malad (Mumbai) is understandably on a high…. “It’s been amazing that being a total outsider, a guy from nowhere, striking it big in Bollywood. It is just like living my dream life – a guy from a middle-class family with no filmy background just started getting paid for it professionally. We are two brothers and I am the eldest in the family. As I recollect that from the time I did many gully dance musical events in my locality when I was just around 12-years of age. It was followed by a Hollywood fusion dance on Spice Girls on stage for the annual day function when I was in the 8th standard. I loved dancing from my very tender age mostly on Bollywood songs of Kishore Kumar, Shammi Kapoor and Dev Anand including hit Western numbers. I began my filmy journey when I was just 19 for a show with actress Varsha Usgaonkar in Bhilwara (Rajasthan. I was also instrumental in a dance number with Pakhi and John Abraham in “Jhootha Hi Sahi”. Then again I was the lead performer dancer in Pooja Batra’s award show. Thus, you see it’s a culmination of all by assisting and toiling hard with renowned choreographers for years, I have perfected my dancing skills,” reveals Yugal Trivedi.

Yugal Trivedi has been in the profession of dancing for around two decades.  He began his guidance with a professional choreographer ever since he was a teenager for four years. He had assisted prominent choreographers like Kamalnath master, Longie Fernandes, Rajiv Goswami, Jojo Khan, Raju Nagpal, Shabana, Rajeev Goswami, Richard Burton amongst others in movies, music albums and shows. He has worked with eminent choreographers like Prabhu Deva, Ganesh Hegde, Farah Khan, Ahmed Khan, Bosco-Caesar, Ganesh Acharya, Remo D’Souza, Terrence Lewis, Longie Fernandes. He had even individually given personal dancing training and tips to aspiring models, actors from films and television. He also found himself seated in the pedestal by choreographing songs for music albums and films in his unique style.

Touted as the fire-brand dancer by few of his admirers, Yugal Trivedi had featured in films like “Tubelight”, “Dishoom”, “Akira”, “Rock On 2”, “Udta Punjab”, “Banjo”, “Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2”, “Sarkar 3”, “Raees”, “Dishoom”, “Krrish 3”, “Student Of The Year”, “Dabangg 2”, “OMG: Oh My God!”, “Action Replay”, “Joker”, “Rowdy Rathore”, “Tere Bin Laden”, “Bang Bang”, “Aa Dekhen Zara”, “Kaminey”, “Hook Ya Crook”, “All The Best”, “3 Idiots”, “Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani”, “Race”, “Kismat Konnection”, “Sunday”, “Golmaal Returns”, “One Two Three”, “Aladdin”, “Om Shanti Om”, “Mission Istambul”  amongst others.

Not to forget about his accolades and involvements in shows, world tours and award functions like: Gladrags; SRK Chakde Yaara Show in 2008 (Indo-Pak Cricketers’ show); Temptation Reloaded in 2008 (Dubai); Comedy Awards; Screen Awards; Star Voice of India; Miss Bollywood Tour with Shilpa Shetty in 2007 (Germany); Rock & Roll Family; Kumar Shanu Night; Ibibo Superstar; IMA Awards 2011; Filmfare Awards 2012; IIFA Awards 2012 (Singapore) and others all over India and abroad. 

Yugal Trivedi also featured in brand commercials like Mumbai Indians – IPL 2008 (Hrithik Roshan); Rajasthan Royals – IPL 2009 (Shilpa Shetty); Amul Ice-cream; Dairy Milk; SRK – Fair and Handsome; Fanta Apple; Vivo IPL – 10 Theme songs, etc. 

Adding to his repertoire of dancing talents he has been instrumental in training aspiring students from schools and colleges for their annual day functions, inter-school and inter-college festivals for Thakur College, Bhawans College, NL College, Bhagubai College, MMK College, D.J. Sanghvi College, Children’s Academy (Malad, Kandivali), HVB Global Academy (IB), Sharda Gyan Pith International School (Malad), Dr. Radhakrishnan School, Hansraj Morarji School, Don Bosco School (Mira Road), Holy Cross School (Bhayandar), St. Mount Mary School (Malay West). 

He choreographed for major events of Thakur College for inter college events like Umang, Mood Indigo (1st place in 2007), Malhar, Kiran, Enigma, etc. and was associated with the same for consecutive 3 years.          The other institution was Bhagubai college for Umang and DJ Sanghvi College festival.

He’s now almost 40 plus and will be turning 41 this September 7.  Throughout his professional journey he has been walking in and out with the A-listers. The future looks bright for him.  He is also looking forward to working on exciting projects across various mediums in the near future. “I’m super proud of the work I’ve done so far and thankful to my mentors who have given me these opportunities to excel. I may have failed somewhere constantly, but it’s been an insightful joyride. But now I guess the new chapter of my real journey has once again started with a few good assignments. I know I can dance and that I know I can have a great aesthetic. The future looks bright and I am positively hoping that anything can happen,” he chirps brightly before signing off.
